Thanks for this. People keep trying to push Pangram as the gold standard for a class of tools that I already think it's wrongheaded. The very real possibility that said boosters are just being overly credulous to a marketing campaign only makes the whole situation so much worse and more embarrassing for them.

I finally tried it out Pangram, with a selection from Joan Didion, Jodi Picoult, a substack lawyer who I know writes her own stuff and has a human editor, and a substack piece poorly written but good information. The poorly written piece was the only one they rated 100% human. The other selections were 100% ai generated. I didn't run them through twice. So good writing in now credited to ai and shit stuff is human. I wanted to try it out after I listened to the creator of Pangram bragging about how they were going to save human writing. For a price. Yep.
